Chemical & Food Ingredients distribution

Acquisition Criteria:

The Buyer engages in the distribution of specialty chemicals and food ingredients. It serves various segments in life sciences, including personal care, pharma, food and health, specialty agri/horti, and homecare and industrial chemicals; and industrial chemicals industry, such as Case, rubber and plastic additives, lubricants and metalworking fluids, electronics, essential and fine chemicals, textiles, leather, and paper applications.

The wanted company must be a service provider for the specialty chemicals and food ingredients industry. A conduit between specialty chemicals and food ingredient suppliers (or so-called “principals”) that have granted the company one or more mandates to distribute their products, and its customers, that cater to diversified life sciences and industrial chemicals end markets.

The target has to represents its principals, predominantly on an exclusive basis, with sales, marketing, distribution, and formulation expertise while providing customers with a “one-stop-shop” for a broad range of products and value-added services.

This means selling ingredients and chemicals from large principals (e.g. Solvay, BASF, CP Kelco, Lanxess etc.) and servicing many small customers (typically local manufacturing companies), including technical support such as formulation advice in a laboratory. This can be any market segment (e.g. coatings, pharma, food, personal care etc.) or any country. Also no real size restrictions.
